FAQ’s
This is where you will find the answers to some of your questions and there are five main sections: About Me, Using the Site/Being a Member, Comments, Writing Posts, and Writing Extras.
Q: What is the purpose of this site?
A: A free exchange of ideas with the ability of people to give opinions on the ideas exchanged.
Q: Do you think you’re intelligent?
A: Intelligent enough to boil water.
Q: Why do you write the things that you write, are you some self-righteous person?
A: In certain cases I am, but mainly this site tells of my blunders and things I’ve watched others do. It’s not about me being self-righteous as I’d rather be writing the least on the site. I only do it so much now because there’s few others who are writing. If it’s a mistake, I probably have made it and I’m far from my mistakes being all in the past. I just love talking, discussing, debating, etc. even if by myself.
Q: Do you need your ego stroked?
A: Wasn’t thinking about it but if you’re offering, I’m accepting.
Q: How old are you…what’s your gender and sex?
A: Too old…I don’t have an agender(for those who don’t get it, just die)? for sex (joke–>insert laugh), I’m being honest.
Q: Who’s this site for?
A: Anyone who cares to talk about something, read something, or comment on something.
Using the Site/Being a Member

A: See the login link at the top of the page.
Q: I’ve logged in so why do I see this blue and white page?
A: This is your admin page. This first page, or Dashboard, displays the most recent posts and comments.
Q: What is this “Wordbook needs configuration” garbage all about? (Temporarily disabled)
A: If you have a Facebook account, you follow the directions after clicking on this so that anytime you write a post it will appear on your newsfeed and your profile. (Temporarily disabled)
Q: How do I share a certain post or page with someone else or on another social bookmarking site?
A: Click on the Share This link at the end of the post/page and choose your options.

A: In your comments tab, you can view all the comments starting from the most recent and to what post it was in reference to. (Must be registered user for this)

Comments
Q: How do I comment?
A: View the post and fill out the required info.
Q: I’m a registered user and my comment didn’t show up, why?
A: You probably used a blacklisted word and need to have the comment moderated.
Q: How do I put someone’s previous statements in those gray quote marks? How do I blockquote?
A: “<blockquote><p>whatever-you-want-to-quote</p></blockquote>” Do this without the quote marks on each end.
Q: Why aren’t the parts that I wanted blockquoted showing correctly, or why is too much being blockquoted?
A: Be sure to start the tag BEFORE the quote and CLOSE the tag after you’re finished quoting.
Q: How do I use my own image for the avatar pic next to my comments?
A: Option 1: Sign up with Gravatar if you don’t already have an account. Here, you can upload an image/avatar from a source of your liking and associate it with an e-mail account. Option 2: Sign up with MyBlogLog, where you’ll need a yahoo account and upload a pic/avatar or make one with their tools. IMPORTANT: In order for your avatar to show up, you must use the same e-mail address on this site that you used in setting up your avatar accounts. If you’re a registered user, the e-mail that’s shown under your profile has to be the same as for your avatar account. If you have an account with both Gravatar and MyBlogLog and/or you used the same e-mail address, the avatar that’s searched for first is Gravatar.
Q: I wrote an excellent post, how will I know when someone responds?
A: You can always check your admin page and view under your post OR for more convenience you can log out from your account and got to the post and fill out the subscribe to comments e-mail submission form. Or just read the next two questions down.
Q: How do I subscribe to posts to know if there are any extra comments?
A: Click the checkbox at the bottom of the comment form before submitting.
Q: How can I subscribe to posts without commenting?
A: Just fill out the e-mail form at the bottom of the post that says, “Subscribe without commenting”
Writing Posts
(Permissions Need to be granted for this)
Q: Okay, I’m ready to get down with writing so how do I do it?
A:
- Go to your Write tab. Title your post in a way that suits you and hold some relevance to your content. Or you can be a little elusive by making a catchy title that makes readers want more.
- If you want to just write without thinking about code, press the visual tab under the heading post.
- Write your content in the text area.
- Select a category you think that your content best fits in on the right column
- With your attention still on the right column, find the Post Status Tab and if you want to work on just a draft leave Draft selected…Otherwise, select Published. The Private option is if you want to share the post just between yourself and another person, in which case you should set a Post Password (the option is 2 tabs up)
- If you’re ready to publish it, then press the Save button. If you have not set the Post Status tab to published then you will also need to press the Publish button. Otherwise, with Post Status set to Published your saving the document will make it automatically publish.
Q: Why is my post not showing up?
A: Read the last bullet under the previous answer.
Q: My post hasn’t shown up, is it because of some delay that has to happen?
A: No, it should show up right away. Make sure you’ve actually published the document by reading the previous two answers.
Q: How come I can’t edit my post/comment?
A: The editing the post ability may be changed soon, but the reason both are disabled for users is to keep others from changing what they’ve said after someone blockquotes them or shows them an obvious blunder in what they said. Some people get mad or discouraged by what others say and decide to change it as if they never said it. Most forums run this way with the option for you to change what you meant to say by commenting on your post. What I may do in the future is make it so that you have a time limit to change what you said for comments. Like I said, I may eventually change it altogether for the editing post option.
Writing Extras
- To make your post have a teaser, where you just show the first couple of lines or so with a “Continue Reading” link, pick a space in your post where you want the teaser to end and then click the button that’s between the ABC button and the Insert/Edit image button (looks like a tree) This will split your post and then on the front page your post will give the teaser content.
- To put in a link just highlight the text and push the link button and follow the directions
- To make your post easier to be searched, find the All in One SEO Pack section under writing and do this: Fill in the same title or a better one that clearly defines what the post is about; give a brief description of what you post entails; give some keywords that will help search engines and searches done within the site
